Offline Slots leave player disappointed

SlotsWe’re always singing the praises of online slots and casino games but offline slots can be just as much fun too, particularly when you use big named, trusted casinos. However one session of offline slots left a player disappointed when an offline slot flashed up a jackpot of $11 million and they were later told it was an error and they weren’t receiving the jackpot.

Maryann McMahon and her husband Jim were playing an offline slot game at Wildwood Casino in Cripple Creek, Colorado when it flashed up winnings up $1,627.82. Then moments later, the electronic display flashed up the word ‘CURRENT’ and the sum of $11,000,600.01. The gaming machine then kept flashing up the two sums continually.

This led the couple to believe they had won some kind of progressive jackpot. $11 million progressives are not inconceivable, just last year a European player scooped over €6 million, online playing the Mega Moolah online slot game.

The couple, keen to cash on in their lucky streak went to ask for help from staff to collect their winnings and was then told that staff would have to take the slot machine apart as something was wrong with it. Staff then transferred the machine to their Colorado Gaming division and they confirmed that the machine was faulty and the couple hadn’t won the big prize at all, rather the £1,627.82, the amount already flashed up.

Mr McMahon was understandably upset by the decision and told his local news station he’d lost trust in casinos after the decision. He is quoted as saying, “If you do hit a jackpot, are they going to come up with another story?” Mrs McMahon remains a little big more philosophical about the incident and says she has no hard feelings towards the casino.
